Let’s be honest — not every new gadget is better just because it’s newer. Sometimes, older tech holds a kind of magic that newer models just can’t replicate. Case in point: the Samsung Galaxy S20/S20+.

I recently picked one up again (Galaxy S20 Plus), just out of curiosity. And you know what? I couldn’t put it down. The design — those perfectly curved edges, the elegant form factor, the way it fits in your hand without a case — it feels like something engineered to be loved. Not just used.
Sure, newer phones are faster, have more AI, brighter screens, extra camera sensors… but they also often come with a catch: they feel generic, overdesigned, or just too heavy — physically and emotionally. The Galaxy S20+ (and S23 Ultra, to some extent) represent that sweet spot where aesthetics, usability, and performance met in harmony.

It reminded me of my Garmin Fenix 6X — another piece of gear that just refuses to feel outdated. Rugged, reliable, and still incredibly capable. These aren’t just tools, they’re companions. And just like a favorite leather jacket or a classic car, there’s something to be said for using and enjoying them long after the hype has moved on.

Unfortunately, much of today’s tech is caught in a loop of forced obsolescence. Marketing tells us we need “the next big thing,” even if the last big thing was already brilliant. But perhaps it’s time we look back, reflect, and celebrate the gadgets that were truly well-made — not just hyped.
So here’s to the forgotten flagships. The phones, watches, and devices that still work beautifully, feel amazing, and carry stories with them. Not because they’re perfect, but because they were built with care and soul.
And maybe that’s the lesson here. In a world obsessed with upgrades and specs, I find myself drawn to devices that were built with care, not hype. I no longer look for the flashiest flagship or the newest release — I look for what feels right. The kind of tech that was crafted by engineers with passion, not rushed by marketers chasing trends. Something that fits in your hand like it was meant to be there. Something that simply works — like a good watch ticking reliably through the years.
